Deputy head of Kyiv's Main Statistics Department Oleh Nastoyashchyi says heart diseases are among major causes behind the death of residents of Kyiv.

"From January to May 2018, more than 8,700 people died in Kyiv from circulatory system diseases, including cerebrovascular disease, ischemic heart disease and other types of cardiac pathologies," he told the 44.ua local news outlet on August 1.
As was the case in the first five months of 2017, circulatory system diseases ranked first, accounting for 63.9% of the total number of deaths in Kyiv in the same period of 2018, while neoplasms accounted for 17.1%, digestive system diseases for 5%, and respiratory diseases for 2.5%. The share of deaths from accidents and violence was 4.2%.
