Kyiv authorities to allocate UAH 4 mln to reimburse energy efficiency loans for households
The department of housing and utilities infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration and the state-owned Oschadbank and Ukrgasbank have signed an agreement to reimburse part of the loans taken by citizens of the Ukrainian capital for the implementation of energy efficiency measures in multi-apartment buildings (Decision of the Kyiv City Council No. 565/565 dated 07.07.2016).
Kyiv residents will be able to make use of a mechanism for reimbursing loans taken to carry out energy efficiency measures, the report stated.
On July 7, 2016, the city council approved a regulation promoting the implementation of energy efficiency measures in multi-apartment buildings by reimbursing part of the loan amount.
"The regulation establishes a mechanism for compensation, by means of the city budget's funds, of 30% of the principal loan amount used to carry out thermal modernization of multi-apartment buildings. The program stipulates that 40% of the loan amount in terms of the cost of materials and equipment shall be reimbursed by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, and 30% of the principal loan amount by the Kyiv authorities. The maximum amount of compensation from the city budget is set at UAH 14,000 per apartment per year," Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City Council Petro Panteleyev said.

Panteleyev also recalled that municipal grants are available in the city to cover costs for the best energy saving project in condominiums and house development cooperatives.
